Almost half the population of Dufferin County gets their drinking water from private wells. To help ensure water is safe, Public Health Ontario offers water-quality testing for bacteria. Water testing bottles can be picked up at the Town Municipal Office. For more details, visit the Wellington Dufferin Guelph Heath Unit website for information on the program and to find out where to drop off your water bottle.
The Health Unit has also provided information on lead in water pipes - a risk associated with older homes. If you are concerned that this might be a problem in your home, visit their website for more information.

Dufferin County Well Program
Do you have a well on your property that should be decommissioned? Could upgrades to your existing well improve your drinking water?
Upgrading your well or decommissioning an unused well can protect and improve your drinking water by preventing contaminants from reaching the groundwater and your water supply. Grants are available to help cover costs associated with upgrades and decommissioning. Funds are provided by Dufferin County and administered by the Grand River Conservation Authority.
