Town of Grand Valley Launches Automated Speed Enforcement
For Immediate Release
GRAND VALLEY, ON – On Tuesday, March 11, 2025, the Town of Grand Valley, in partnership with Local Authority Services (LAS) and Elovate, will start its two-year Automated Speed Enforcement pilot program in the community safety zone along Main Street in front of the elementary school.
The camera system, the first to be deployed in Dufferin County, will capture vehicle speed data in real time, and then issue speeding tickets to the vehicle owner if speeds exceed the speed limit of 40km/h in our community safety zone.
The Town sought a revenue-neutral, turnkey solution for the supply, design, installation, testing, maintenance, and decommissioning of an ASE program, which LAS’s pilot program offers. The Town spent tax dollars upfront for installation and set up, and the costs will be recovered from ticket revenue.
The Town’s community safety zone was established through by-laws over the last decade, based on safety concerns along Main Street, Water Street and Amaranth Street, being the busiest roads in the urban area.
The “coming soon” signs are being replaced with “Municipal Speed Camera In Use” signage, required to be posted in the camera’s vicinity, and tickets will be handled through a Joint Processing Centre and the Caledon court system, just like speeding tickets issued by the OPP are handled currently.
